Video: Ginetta Cup Round 3 Recap – Laguna Seca

On Saturday February 6th, The Privateer’s Pitbox facilitated the second night of ACC-racing with our Ginetta Cup. Races three and four were on the agenda, with race three being the subject of this particular post! Before we head to the video, you can view my live experience in my Twitch-VOD here. You can (re)watch recap #1 (Monza) and recap #2 (Brands Hatch) here. Recap of Laguna Seca The above video is the ‘official’ recap, below I’ll tell my story (with cool screenshots!) Qualifying I was able to put in quite...

Enhanced Diecast: Hot Wheels 1:64 Ford GT40

A couple of weeks ago, I decided to ‘upgrade’ a Bentley Continental GT3 with some leftover paints I had lying around. When I ordered the Bentley, a different car also caught my eye: a diecast GT40 MK1 in Gulf livery. Being the racing fan that I am, I couldn’t miss the opportunity to also own a piece of racing history. While the two arrived simultaneously, I wanted to try the Bentley first since it seemed like a less difficult job. During that first enhancement, I learned a couple of things....

Video – Short Clip: Smoothest pit-entry ever?

Sunday was a 90 minute ‘biggrid’ event (it turned out to be medium-ish grid). Qualifying fifth, I had decent pace. I took one position mid-way my first stint while coasting in fuel map 2. By the half-way mark, I had a couple of laps left on fuel but I decided to enter the pits to make sure I wasn’t undercut by Edoardo Radis who was right on my tail. What happened after is best described by watching the video. I wasn’t even mad at this pit-entry. I was actually quite...

Blancpain at Zandvoort: report, gallery and aftermovie.

On the weekend of the 12th to 14th of July (2019), the Blancpain travelling circus hit Zandvoort. Since I’ve been heavily investing my time in Assetto Corsa Competizione (which features the official Blancpain licensed cars) I thought it would be nice to visit a real race for once. I’ve visited Zandvoort once before, but I had never watched a race, never felt the roar of the engines pass through my stomach. All that changed on sunday the 14th of July. See/read below for my experiences! Lamborghini Supertrofeo Together with a...

The F1 ‘Oracle’ – Trying to predict the results for GP #10: Great Britain

In this series of posts I attempt to predict the top 10 of both the qualifying session and the race ahead of qualifying. I will enter these predictions on GuessTheGrid, a website which takes your top 10 predictions and ranks them against other’s. Before I will present my prediction, let us take a look at how my prediction for the Austrian Grand Prix worked out. –   Austrian GP Recap This was a decent result, but not the result I was looking for after Azerbaijan left me with only 21 points...

Design: Gilles Villeneuve’s 1980 helmet

There are hardly more tragic stories than that of Gilles Villeneuve. The Canadian driver drove his first race in 1977 for McLaren, but was picked up by Ferrari for the final two races of the 1977 season. He won his first race in the following 1978 season at his home grand prix. He came close to winning the 1979 championship, but was plagued with problems in the ’80 and ’81 seasons. Then, finally, Ferrari seemed to have built a title challenger for the 1982 season.  After two retirements, Villeneuve came...

Make 2017 Yours by Keeping to Your Resolutions

After the dreadful 2016, 2017 has arrived. In 2016, we saw Trump take victory over Clinton, we saw the British exit from the European Union decided through a referendum. We saw numerous terrorist attacks in 2016, most notably in Brussels, Istanbul and Berlin. In Turkey, a failed coup took place, giving Erdogan a carte blanche to cleanse the three pillars of government from critics. Numerous musicians, actors and comedians died, concluding in the family tragedy which first took Carrie Fisher, and her mother Debbie Reynolds the day after. Furthermore, 2016 was again...

I Made My Vlogging Debut Driving A Ferrari Around Zandvoort

So, my sister bribed me with racing a Ferrari across Zandvoort in order for me to appear in one of her blogs. Now I normally don’t want to appear on video (I hate my face and my voice, not a good combo for video’s), but for this one I made an exception. We sepparately drove Ferrari F430’s across the track, and it was… awesome. Sadly, you can’t see me driving across the circuit (driving a Ferrari at 200km/h through Arie Luyendijk is hard enough as it is), but still, here’s...

A Collection of Wallpapers: Williams Martini Racing

The Williams is 2014’s hottest looking car. Not just the aerodynamic design, but also the livery is top-notch. The Martini Racing livery makes for some great nostalgia to the era of dangerous touring cars and Le Mans prototypes of the 70’s and 80’s. I made a few wallpapers based on this Williams Martini design, which you can find in this post. Here’s the first, the other two are after the jump!   (original)
