Ferrari 312T Retro Formula 1 || Ferrari 296 GT3 ACC Custom Livery
One of the most iconic F1 cars might be the Ferrari 312T. In various generations, the platform was used from 1975 until 1980. Niki Lauda drove the 1975 Ferrari 312T to his maiden F1 Driver’s Championship. In 1976, he had his horrendous crash on the Nordschleife driving the Ferrari 312T2, to eventually still take second in the driver’s championship. And, he retook the title in 1977 driving that same 312T2.
That was the end of Lauda’s partnership with Ferrari, but it was not the end of the 312T’s winning ways. No, as in 1979 Jody Scheckter drove the Ferrari 312T4 to the 1979 title, Ferrari’s last until 2000. The 1980 season marked the final year for the 312T platform, as the 312T5 showed it was awfully dated as the Cosworth DFV engine reigned supreme.
Those 6 years of service eventually resulted in a nice collection of liveries, marked by a combination of red and white, finished with a small tricolore stripe. A colourway which Ferrari paid tribute to with their 2017 F1 contender, the Ferrari SF70H.
My tribute to the 312T is loosely inspired by the 1975 Ferrari 312T and 1976 Ferrari 312T2 liveries. Partly because I love the iconic airbox of the 312T, and because the 312T2’s livery best lends itself for a more intricate design.
