Forti FG01 || Ferrari 296 GT3 Custom Livery
It’s not secret that I’m an early 90s kid. My username on most website has been FelixR1991 for decades for a reason. Why am I telling you this? Well, to create a bit of context for why I made this particular livery.
I’ve been watching F1 ever since my eyes were able to. Since I was born into the F1 religion, watching the race was on Sundays was my church service.
In the late 80s and early 90s, there were a lot of small Italian teams in Formula 1. Like, a lot. Most of them folded in a year or two, with the exception of 1 team: Minardi F1. These were basically Italian versions of teams like Brabham, Williams, and Tyrrell. I.e. poorly funded, poorly run, poorly performing, but full of passion.
My earliest memories date back to 1994. By then, most of those small Italian teams had folded. But besides Minardi, there was another.
This “other” being Forti Corse, the arguably last of the Italian garagistas (if you don’t count Minardi, which was half a step above Forti). Taking part in 1995 and the first half of the 1996 F1 season, Forti never managed to score a single point. Their best result a 7th place finish (out of 8, and 4 laps down) in the 1995 season closer at Adelaide, Australia.
It’s no surprise, then, that Forti ran out of money and closed down after just 10 races in 1996, when their Hail Mary FG03 (which replaced the FG01B) failed to finish even once.
One of the main reasons why Forti has stuck around in my head for so long? When I was a kid, I would get season summary books. And in it, there was a picture of a crash by Luca Badoer at the 1996 Argentine Grand Prix. Which, to me, is probably the most iconic picture ever taken in F1. Pictured below.

Forti was always on my list of liveries to make in my spare time. I did a batch of other retro F1 liveries for the Ferrari 296 before, with the Minardi M189 and the Alfa Romeo 184T. This is a follow up to that.
For the source of this livery, I took the 1995 FG01, which is the most memorable of the Forti liveries. It features a yellow and blue color scheme, after its main sponsor: Italian food conglomerate Parmalat. It’s a fairly simple livery, and not the most interesting. But, I wanted to make it, so I did. And now you get to enjoy it too, if you want to.
