Buzzin Hornets “Thanks Eddie” Tribute || Porsche 992 GT3 R Custom Livery
I grew up watching Formula 1 in the 90s. One of the teams I grew up liking was the plucky underdog, Jordan. Named after its eccentric founder, owner and manager: Eddie Jordan.
One of my earliest memories of watching F1 is cheering for Eddie Irvine and Rubens Barichello during what must have been the 1995 F1 season. I vaguely remember a stricken Jordan at the Monza back straight standing on the grass, abandoned. Questioning why they wouldn’t remove the car, only to be told it wouldn’t pose any danger by my father.
That same Jordan Grand Prix was responsible for the debut of my childhood hero, Michael Schumacher. And arguably also had some of the best liveries from F1 history, with the original Jordan 191 “7up” livery, and the Benson and Hedges livery of the late 90s and early 00s.
Eddie Jordan passed away from cancer, on March 20 of this year, 2025. Although his team has not been named Jordan for about 20 years now (it has since been renamed to Midland, Spyker, Force India, Racing Point and Aston Martin, in said order), he was still involved in the world of F1. As a pundit, colour commentator, analyst, and all-around shit-stirrer. His stint at Top Gear was probably ill-timed after the departure of Clarkson and co, but he at least made it memorable.
So when I was commissioned to make a livery in his memory, I loved the opportunity. I took most of my inspiration from the 1999 Jordan EJ199 as pictured above. This was Jordan’s most successful car, with 2 race victories and a 3rd place in the 1999 World Constructor’s Championship. Behind only McLaren and Ferrari.
