MOMO Corse F 333 SP || Ferrari 296 GT3 Custom Livery
After Ford defeated Ferrari in the 1960s at Le Mans, Ferrari quietly took the back door in sports car racing. Between 1973 and 1993, Ferrari focused on Formula 1 and on their road car business. However, after 2 decades, this would come to an end.
By the end of 1993, the World Sportscar Championship would fold. But, it got a reboot as the top class of the IMSA GT series from 1994 until 1998. The WSC class itself replacing the GTP class of the IMSA championship. Which I briefly mentioned in my Nissan GTP ZX-Turbo livery post.
In 1993, the owner of car part manufacturer MOMO and amateur racer, Gianpiero Moretti, commissioned Dallara to build a prototype-style Ferrari. With Ferrari’s blessing of course, to enter the IMSA GT series. The car that Dallara would build went on to be named the Ferrari 333 SP, and made its IMSA debut in 1994.
Moretti’s MOMO team managed to bag 3 wins and 4 second places, narrowly missing out on the title. But, it was the start of a successful cooperation up and including 1998. Moretti went on to win, among others, the Daytona 24 hours and the 12 hours of Sebring. The Ferrari 333 SP also managed to win the 24 hours of Le Mans in 1998 with the Doyle-Risi Racing (later Risi Competizione) team. To be fair, they won their class but finished 8th overall. The MOMO colours of Moretti (as seen below) managed to finish third in class, 14th overall.

The livery I recreated is largely based on the 1998 iteration of the livery (mainly, the 1998 Daytona 24 hours as seen above). But, there are many different iterations depending on the race it entered. Supercars.net has a very interesting long-read on the car and team with historic pictures.
