Enhanced Diecast: Hot Wheels 1:64 BMW Z4 M GT3

The BMW Z4 M GT3/GTE was announced in 2010 and started racing in a wide range of categories before being replaced by the M6 GT3 in 2016. In 2020, Hot Wheels (re)released a tribute to this car (#172/250, Nightburnerz 7/10) which arrived on my doormat via Aliexpress a week ago. This sunday, I found the time to ‘enhance’ the quite barebones paintjob on the Z4 M like I did with the Ford GT40 before and the Bentley Continental GT3 before that – making this my third enhancement. Lets see how...

Design: Aston Martin Cognizant F1-team ACC-Livery

I’ve been a long-time Vettel fan, ever since his Formula BMW days and his subsequent race replacing Robert Kubica at BMW Sauber. I’ve followed him all the way through the Toro Rosso days to Red Bull and celebrated his four WDC’s as if they were Schumacher’s. His move to Ferrari even made me cheer for the reds again for the first time in a decade, something I thought I’d never do after they kicked Schumi to the kerb. After the first three years, the cracks started appearing when Leclerc replaced...

Get ready for the second DTM mini-competition!

Yesterday evening was the inaugural event for The Privateer’s Pitbox. A total of 12 people registered to participate, which was more than enough to create a fun evening with some semi-serious racing going on. I regard it as a successfull launch, hence we are organizing a second event on the 14th featuring a slightly revised setup. More on that later, first, lets look back at yesterday’s event (of which you can view my perspective in this stream)! The 90’s DTM Mini-competition #1 The first race was at Brands Hatch (GP)....

ACC in 2020: a year in numbers!

Over the year 2020 (with the exception of January and February), I’ve written posts about the player statistics of Assetto Corsa Competizione (ACC). Using data publically available from both steamdb and steamcharts, I’ve created my own charts and talked about major developments and probably causes. Now that it’s 2021, it is time to look back and reflect upon these statistics, and derive what this might mean for ACC in 2021. First, I’ll discuss each month, after which we’ll look at the year as a whole. If you don’t feel like reading it all...

Get ready for the first Privateer’s Pitbox (mini-) Competition!

This monday our budding little community ‘The Privateer’s Pitbox‘ got greenlit to race on Simracing.GP in their closed beta. Yesterday (tuesday), we did our first little test events on the platform, successfully I might add. Today, we announce the next step in trying out its full functionality: a 90’s DTM mini championship, tomorrow, using Assetto Corsa (1). What: One evening, 3x 15min qualifying + 30min races in Assetto Corsa Where: Brands Hatch, Donington National & Mosport 2020 When: Thursday January 7th, Q1 starts at 20:30 (server up at 20:00) For...

No, the SA-rating isn’t broken.

Explaining an often misunderstood system. One of the most heard complaints on Assetto Corsa Competizione’s forum or subreddit is about the game’s SA, or Safety, -rating. “Is the SA-rating bugged?” or “It is currently too hard to gain SA-rating” are near weekly threads. The question, in 99% of the cases anyway, always boils down to a core misunderstanding of the inner workings of the rating itself. I’ve often written long explanations as a response to try to explain how it works. With this post, my aim is to definitevely explain...

ACC Playercount Round-up: December 2020

At the time of writing, it’s January 2nd (happy New Year, I guess!). This means another month has passed, and it is time to see how the playercounts for Assetto Corsa Competizione developed in December. After last month’s round-up wherein I summarized five months, I’m back to my regular schedule again. Keep in mind: this will only be a retrospective for December. I will write a full year review of the numbers in the following days. Stay tuned for that one! In this article I will analyze the playercounts from...

Enhanced Diecast: Hot Wheels 1:64 Ford GT40

A couple of weeks ago, I decided to ‘upgrade’ a Bentley Continental GT3 with some leftover paints I had lying around. When I ordered the Bentley, a different car also caught my eye: a diecast GT40 MK1 in Gulf livery. Being the racing fan that I am, I couldn’t miss the opportunity to also own a piece of racing history. While the two arrived simultaneously, I wanted to try the Bentley first since it seemed like a less difficult job. During that first enhancement, I learned a couple of things....

Wallpapers pt. 4: Five more ACC-screenshots enhanced!

It’s been a while since I did one of my screenshot collections. While there was a time earlier this year I kept hammering out editted screenshots (part 1, part 2 and part 3), I didn’t stop making them. They were just less frequent. Now though, I’ve collected five more enhanced wallpapers I find worthy of posting the before and after edits of. Clicking the before and after links below the pictures opens the high-res, Imgur-hosted versions. I hope you like them! Battle at Misano This one is taken from one...
