ERAU McLaren 720s GT3 Evo || ACC Custom Livery

Earlier this year (March, to be exact), I was contacted to make a livery for the Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU) eSports team. At the time, I made a livery for the 488 GT3 Evo which they were driving a competition with, as seen below. It seems I’ve done a good enough job to warrant a second go at a livery for them, as I was now asked to make another. The victim this time? The McLaren 720S GT3 Evo. For this new design, I took a lot of cues from...

Tyrrell 009 ‘Candy’ (F1 1979) || ACC Custom Livery

I’ve talked about my pallate cleansers before. Liveries I make in between (or while) making commissions. Liveries which are easy to make and don’t require too much brainpower or creative imagination, so that I keep myself motivated while heading into roadblocks when doing the big stuff. Classic liveries are great for that purpose, because back then they did not have computers to create advanced vinyl designs. The liveries mostly had 1 big sponsor, a simple design with some shapes, and then some smaller logos. So too the 1979 Tyrrell 009,...

Triple Crown Ferrari 296 GT3 || ACC Custom Livery

McLaren has been releasing some great limited-use liveries. This year, McLaren released a special livery for the Monaco and Spanish Grand Prix’ titled ‘Triple Crown’, which featured nods to their rich historical achievements in F1, Le Mans, and the Indy 500. The livery, as seen below, was also the inspiration for the person who requested my next commission! The person who requested the commission wanted a livery that came close to the car pictured above. They did give me the liberty to fiddle about and make something that fits the...

McLaren 720S GT3 Evo conversions || ACC Custom Liveries

On May 25th, the 1.9.3 update for Assetto Corsa Competizione (ACC) was released, and with it the McLaren 720S GT3 Evo. It’s not a big step from the original 720S GT3, but there are some front bumper changes. And more importantly, it has a wireframe that does not entirely line up with the older model. Meaning that some liveries have to be slightly reworked for them to work with the new car. Only slightly though. And that is just what I did for three of my classics-inspired liveries, based on...

Tyrrell P34 McLaren 720S GT3 || ACC Custom Livery

One of my previous commission requests was done by Tim. Tim wanted me to make a livery for the McLaren 720S GT3 based on the Tyrrell P34. The history buffs among us know that the Tyrrell P34, which was entered into the 1976 and 1977 Formula 1 seasons, has had 2 different liveries in its history. First, there was a blue/yellow ELF livery. Then, in 1977, there was the First National livery. Both are great liveries, if I say so myself. Ultimately and after a bit of consideration, Tim decided...

Tyrrell P34 McLaren 720s GT3 || ACC Custom Livery Commission

Back in late 2022, I was contacted to convert the UOP Shadow livery, famous from 70s Formula 1, to a modern McLaren 720s GT3. Well, the person who requested said commission was so happy with the result, that he commissioned me to make another 70s inspired F1 livery for the McLaren 720s GT3. Based on… drumroll The Tyrrell P34 First National livery from 1977’s Formula 1, as seen below! The final result can be seen in the video above or the screenshots below. Do you want to download and use...

UOP Shadow McLaren 720S GT3 || ACC Custom Livery

Around Christmas, I was contacted by an American living in Germany. He wanted to commission me to do a livery for his brother who still resides in the States. And, because he didn’t want his brother to be the only dressed in custom colours, he also wanted one for himself too. His choice for a livery based on the Shadow F1 and sportscars of the 70s must be based on nostalgia, but the simple black with red/orange/yellow/white details quickly grew on me too. So much so, that I finished his...

Design: James Hunt’s 1976 helmet (+extra)

James Hunt will always be seen as the “bad boy” of Formula 1. Not only was he famous for his ‘all or nothing’ attitude on track, his off-track escapades might even be better remembered. Hunt entered F1 in the 1973 season for Hesketh, scoring two podiums in his first season (the first being a third place in my country, the Netherlands!). He took his first victory in 1975 (again in the Netherlands) which earned him a promotion to the McLaren team. During the 1976 season, he had a legendary run...

Design: Fernando Alonso’s 2017 Indianapolis 500 helmet

Fernando Alonso. He’s having a hard time currently with the McLaren Honda in Formula 1. The two-time WDC winner with Renault started his career with Minardi scoring points on his debut. Moved to Renault, ended Schumacher’s reign by dominating the ’05 and ’06 season and left for McLaren. At McLaren, he was pushed out by Ron Dennis in favor of the then new talent Lewis Hamilton, only to return to Renault. He was picked up by Ferrari to replace Raikkonen in order to challenge the Red Bulls – a venture...

Design: Niki Lauda’s 1984 helmet

Niki Lauda is perhaps among the top three of the most famous drivers F1 has had, next to Schumacher and Senna. The Austrian driver entered Formula 1 in 1971 and had his last season in 1985. Not only is he known for the three world titles he achieved during his career and being the only one doing so with both Ferrari and McLaren, he is probably best remembered by his horrible crash at the Nürburgring which left most of his face with third degree burns. The title challenge between him...
