WEDNESDAY’S WEEKLY [31] (Week 52, 2012)

After two days of filling up my stomach with delicious Christmas food, it’s now time for another weekly, for Wednesday has arrived. I made the hard decision to go back to Leiden, where unfortunately I’m currently home alone, except for our cat. But as we all know, you can’t make cats be social, they socialize only when they want to. And currently, he is too busy sleeping. In order to keep myself occupied, I’ll write another entry!

One of the reasons I wanted to go back to Leiden, was because my parents are gearing up to go an ‘All-You-Can-Eat’-Chinese buffet. Because I have a hard time controlling the quantity of my food intake, and I don’t want to give up on almost three weeks of rigorous exercise force-feeding myself with Chinese food, I went back to Leiden, thinking there’d be at least one or two housemates around. Apparently not. My mom gave me the leftover salad, so I’m going to have a healthy dinner tonight as opposed to the food frenzy of the last couple of days.

Christmas Eve featured a Turkey, a potato casserole, and some beans wrapped in bacon, accompanied with Cranberry compote and canned peaches. Christmas Day saw a large quantity of carpaccio, ‘vitello tonnato’ (venison with a tuna sauce), a large ham, french fries, baked potatoes, venison, duck, and more, much more. It was delicious, but also not ideal for someone on a diet.

So now I’m back here. I’m still trying to write those movie reviews I promised, but I find it hard to write a unique review without any bland clichés. This must be what’s called a writer’s block. It’s not the end of the world, but it does mean my entries are a bit lacking in quantity, due to a lack of quality. I have to choose between either a lot of bad reviews, are no reviews at all. I choose, for now, the latter. I hope you understand.
