Wynn’s Porsche 962 (1986) || Porsche 992 GT3 R Custom Livery

There are a lot of iconic racing liveries, be it recent, historic, Formula 1, endurance racing, or what have you. Take for instance the Marlboro McLarens in F1 or Penske’s in IRL. The Martini-striped F1, endurance and rally cars. I take some of the most unique and recognizable liveries. Or liveries which I personally like, for whatever reason. I take them and convert them to fit a modern GT3, befitting the history of the livery.

So too with the subject of today. The Hotchkis Racing’s Porsche 962 dressed in the Wynn’s colours. Wynn’s has sponsored many different teams spawning many different iterations of liveries. Most recently, to my memory at least, they featured in the 2019 24 hours of Le Mans on a Ford GT. However, there are many more, even more recent options to choose from.

I couldn’t find a good article on the history of Wynn’s as a racing sponsor. But they seemed to have sponsored Hotchkis Racing off-and-on between 1986 and 1993. During that time, the livery evolved. But for this livery I based my design on the 1986 iteration, as pictured below.

The base livery is a deep indigo, with white planes which are accompanied with pink and orange striping. This combination of colours is unlike any you’d see on track now, or even back then. This makes it such a recognizable livery. And, with the 962 being a Porsche, converting it to the 911 (992) GT3 was an easy decision!

PS: upon writing this article, I found another GT3 Wynn’s livery that is eerily close to the one I devised.
