Design: Mathieu van der Poel
I’m not only a four-wheel racing fan. I also enjoy two-wheel racing. And no, that doesn’t just mean MotoGP. It also means cycling. And one of the most exiting riders of the past couple of years just happen to be Dutch (like me): Mathieu van der Poel.
Understandably then, I’ve become a big fan of his. I wanted to convert this fandom into a design. I chose to make a logo design featuring his face, covered by his iconic helmet and glasses – the way we most often see him on the road to another exiting finish.
Here it is!
As for the colourscheme of the background, I chose to use the special jersey-design they used on stage 1 of the 2021 Tour de France, which was a tribute to Mathieu’s grandfater, the famed Raymon ‘Poupou’ Poulidor.
For fans of the regular Alpecin Fenix jersey: fear not. I also made a variant with those colours.
And, in light of the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, I made a version especially for that one hoping Mathieu would achieve his dream of Olympic gold. Unfortunately, it wasn’t to be, but still… Have it anyway!
Since I’m using Mathieu van der Poel’s image (without permission) for this design, I am not marketing this design on my Redbubble.
