5 great movies you probably never heard about.
It’s tuesday evening. You’re either planning to go to bed, or don’t know what to do yet. Eitherway, there’s always time to watch a movie, right? Don’t know what to watch? I’ve compiled a list for you to choose from – being an addict to movies watching about ten movies per week – which I think are must see, or at least very watchable. I’m 99% sure you haven’t seen them all.
Blood in, Blood out. (1993)
IMDb rating: 7.7
featuring: Billy Bob Thornton (small role), rest of the cast is pretty unknown.
Story about the gang life in the US in the early ’90s. Plenty of violence, a beautifully tragic story about how the underpriviliged youths of the US become gang members. This one is not for the ladies, but men, enjoy! Vatos Locos fo’ Life!
Pineapple Express (2008)
IMDb rating: 7.0
featuring: Seth Rogen , James Franco, Danny McBride (Eastbound & Down).
Great stoner-comedy, one of the highest-rated I’ve seen. It’s relatively unknown compared to other stoner movies, but this one is probably better than any of them. If you’re going to get your weed on, you should watch this. I watched it without, and even I found it hilarious. For the girls; James Franco. I think you can appreciate him.
Forgetting Sarah Marshall (2008)
IMDb rating: 7,3
featuring: Jason Segel (How I Met Your Mother), Kristen Bell, Mila Kunis.
This is probably the most well known movie in this list. Besides that, I’m sure that a lot of people have heard from this movie, but haven’t seen it yet. Well, now is the time. It’s kind of a romantic comedy (girls!), but there’s certainly something for us guys. Imagine: Mila Kunis and Kristen Bell, walking around in bikini for almost 75% of the film. Now that, gentlemen, is a great movie.
Zack and Miri make a Porno (2008)
IMDb rating: 6,9
featuring: Seth Rogen (again), Elizabeth Banks.
Yet another comedy, but this one’s more for the guys, as the title suggests. Don’t expect any full-frontal nudity though, this film keeps it pretty civil. But, the suggestion, and the language spoken (example; if you want to know what a ‘Dutch Rudder’ is, watch this film.) makes it worth the view.
Valhalla Rising (2009)
IMDb rating: 5,9
featuring: Mads Mikkelsen (Le Chiffre from Casino Royale).
Danish film about a tribalman during the Viking-era. There isn’t much of a story in this film, but the fights are greatly depicted. Think of ‘300’, but then mano y mano. Like Blood in, Blood Out, this one isn’t for the ladies, unless the ladies like mudied, half naked dude pulling each others’ eyes out. Don’t be fooled by the low rating, action movies tempt to get lower ratings then other films.
Well, I suggest you pick one. Perhaps leave a comment what you thought about the movie. Either insult me for wasting your tuesday evening or thank me, besides, it was only a tuesday evening. It’s not like you’re going out drinking or anything.
