Design: Nyck de Vries, World Champion

The 2020/2021 Formula E season was a blast. Not just because it was one of the closest fights for the championship title, but also because it saw Nyck de Vries clench it in the final race. This means that Nyck de Vries became the first Dutchman to become an official (non-karting) FIA world champion. As a tribute, I made a design commemorating this fact. Before showing you the end result, I will briefly talk about my “relation” to Nyck (i.e., as a spectator and motorsports fan) and show some of...

Design: Formula E (-lectric) Drift

In February 2020, Formula E announced its intention to introduce the Evo version of its Gen 2 design. This Evo design saw an update to both the front- and rear wings, and a new shark fin was added to the existing design. I thought it looked pretty cool, so I started the groundwork for an illustration based on it. I started with a drawing (pictured below), which I scanned and used as a basis for the eventual design which I would make in Illustrator. Unfortunately for me, a couple of...

Design: Pegasole Splash

Last year, I made a design based on my running shoe’s sole design. I really liked the design, but I also thought it was a little bit bland. I thought I could do better. So, recently, I took said design and updated it. The result of which can be seen in this post, and ordered on my Redbubble storefront! For this design, I felt inspired by Nike Sportswear’s 2021 Tee Futura, pictured below. I really liked the Synthwave or Retrowave colour scheme of the logo on the black shirt. Unfortunately,...

Design: Ferrari 488 GT3

Playing Assetto Corsa Competizione has given me inspiration to convert some of the cars into artwork, starting with Ferrari’s aggressive looking 488 GT3. I’ve uploaded the design to Redbubble, mainly because I myself am going to the Blancpain GT3 races at Zandvoort the 14th of July, and I wanted to wear a shirt based on this design. If you fancy this design yourself, feel free to click on the link below! Ferrari 488 GT3 Racing on Redbubble The shirt has arrived, and it is looking mighty good, Excuse the crappy...

Design: Ferrari 333SP (90’s LMP)

Another new design, another Ferrari. This time, though, it is not a Formula 1 car but a 90’s Le Mans Prototype – or LMP for short. You can see the full design, in all its glory, after the jump – as well as some examples of products you can buy this design on. Let me know what you think by either rating this post, or commenting – so I know what direction to go in in the future!

Design: 90’s F1 Cartoon Cars – Purchaseable on RedBubble

After my earlier unexpected overnight success (about which you can read all about here) I wanted to press on and do more drawings using Illustrator. I first tried my hand at something realistic looking, but soon noticed I had not yet gained the experience needed in order to complete said design to a satisfactory level, so progress on that project slowly came to a halt. Suddenly, I found myself wondering what to do. However, not long after, I scribbled something on paper which soon gave me an excellent idea, and so...

How Reddit made my wish come true: being a Graphic Designer.

I woke up yesterday feeling creative, wanting to draw something. When I created my template for the 2017 Formula 1 car and uploaded it to reddit’s /r/formula1 subreddit about one and a half months ago, people over there suggested I try my hand at Adobe Illustrator. Well, yesterday morning I thought “hell, lets give it a try”, so I installed an older version of Illustrator (CS6) and looked up a video through google on how to draw in this particular program, giving me this tutorial. I decided I wanted to draw...
