Tyrrell 009 ‘Candy’ (F1 1979) || ACC Custom Livery
Classic liveries are great for that purpose, because back then they did not have computers to create advanced vinyl designs. The liveries mostly had 1 big sponsor, a simple design with some shapes, and then some smaller logos.
So too the 1979 Tyrrell 009, as pictured below. For the new McLaren 720S GT3 Evo.
I have previously made liveries for the 1976 Tyrrell P34 (for the McLaren 720S GT3 and the McLaren 720S GT3 Evo) and the 1977 Tyrrell P34B (also for the McLaren 720S GT3 and the McLaren 720S GT3 Evo).
Now, I skipped the 1978 Tyrrell 008, because it was largely a recolored version of the 1977 Tyrrell P34B’s First National City Bank livery. However, if there is any interest in me making that livery, please comment below and I will add it to my list of potential future palate cleansers!
So yeah, the Tyrrell 009. While keeping the blue, it is no longer ‘Elf’-blue but Azzurro. Italian blue. Because the new-for-1979 title sponsor was Candy, and Italian manufacturer of household items such as laundry and dishwashers. Which is still operating today.
A simple design, with only a few logos and most strikingly and Italian flag motif on the side. Very easy to recreate for ACC, but still rather striking to those who enjoy this type of stuff (like me).
The final result can be seen in the video (above) or screenshots below. Do you want to download and use the final livery? Feel free to do so by clicking the big red bar below which leads you to my shared google drive.

Absolutely lovely, Felix! I’ll definitely use this in ACC. And you can count on me to feed you more than enough ideas for classic 70s-80s F1 liveries.
