Design: LGBTQ Racing Logo (for sale)
Racing is for everyone. Whether you are a man or a woman. With Lewis Hamilton, Formula 1 has a literal poster boy for diversity: loads of kids growing up will have a poster of him on their wall just like I had Michael Schumacher on my wall. There is, however, still a stigma, a taboo, resting on Formula 1. This particular taboo is not unique for Formula 1 but many other sports, and could result in certain people feeling left out with nobody to cheer for.
I’m talking about, of course, LGBTQ – Lesbian, Gay, Bisexuel, Transexual and Queer. As far as I know, only Lella Lombardi (female F1 driver in the early eighties) was open about her sexual orientation.
In most of the Western world the recognition and emancipation of people under the LGBTQ banner is making great strides on an institutional level, but not quite on a social level. Even in my native country (The Netherlands), renowned for its early adaption of same-sex marriage and its yearly pride parade, gays can still be attacked in the streets for walking hands.
Now, before you start fuming at the mouth, I’m not here to politicize F1 or other racing series with ‘progressive’ propaganda. I am merely offering a design for people to show who they are: racing fans. That is why I put this design up on Redbubble, so you can purchase and wear this design.

- “But Felix, are you gay/bisexual/trans/queer?”
No, I am not. I am just raised to be accepting of anyone and sufficiently creative to make a design such as this.
- “Then why are you trying to profit from this?”
Good question. Let me start out by saying that 50% of my profit from this design will go to GALE (Global Alliance for LGBT Education). The other 50% will be used to invest in new equipment to make more content for anyone to enjoy and/or groceries depending on my bank statement. Gotta be alive to make art!
