ACC Playercount Round-up: March 2020

I’ve been keeping track of the amount of players playing ACC for a while now, out of personal curiosity. This basically means I’m importing data from both steamdb and steamcharts into my own spreadsheets. This might seem useless (which it probably is) but I add some value in terms of giving context to flat numbers which the sources do not. So lets get on with that. March 2020 March sees a significant upward trend, with a steady week-on-week growth. The first week of March saw an average peak concurrent players...

Video: ACC Short Clip – Outta Nowhere!

JoJo memes are still funny right? Right?! After a CP race on Silverstone I just had to throw this one together. A slight introduction as to what happened, well… I had a Nissan on my left, which meant I had to take the inside line. I tried to outbreak him so I had the exit to myself. However, I slightly overshot it, which meant I bottomed out on the kerb, sending me straight back on the track. The Nissan was able to avoid me albeit hitting the grass for a...

Opinion: are gamepads too easy to handle in Assetto Corsa Competizione?

Disclaimer: I’m not trying to start a flame war, and I do not think gamepad users are lesser in any way. I think this is a genuine question, which I want to pose in order to start a discussion, and hopefully trigger a reaction and/or explanation from physics master Aris. Disclaimer 2: This post was written in january 2020. A lot has changed since then, so keep that in mind while reading this post. Lately I’ve been seeing more and more people who I consider to be very quick drivers...

Video: Wrong car, wrong brakes, wrong fuel, wrong everything.

The new CP-server system in Assetto Corsa Competizione has brought a breath of fresh air into the game. Not just in terms of CP-server population (i.e. quantity), but also in terms of racing etiquette (i.e. quality). This has led to some awesome 45/60 minute races, with the featured video being a highlight reel of my most awesome experience yet. Before joining the race, the track was set to ‘random’, which means you don’t know what track you’ll be driving before you register for it. I took the BMW as a...

ACC How To: Customize your Driver!

EDIT: while there is now an editor, some gloves are still accessible through editing the .json file (click here to jump to that part). However, if you make any change in the editor, you have to re-do the gloves change in the .json. I advise you to change the gloves after you are happy with your driver. EDIT: this way of creating custom driver skins has been broken by v1.3.10, probably in preparation for an official method to be released soon in v1.4. Until v1.4 hits I see no reason...

Design: Sebastian Vettel's '5'

It’s been a while since I designed something, but sometimes you have a hint, a spark, a slight flash of inspiration resulting in something you think is at least half decent. Well, this design is just that. I think I only saw Sebastian Vettel’s helmet, and knew I wanted to make this logo. The design is inspired by Sebastian Vettel’s ‘5’ logo, which he wears on his helmet. He’s done a lot of different renditions and variations of the logo, like the one in this picture. My design has the...

ACC livery showcase #04: Yes, we are back with 10 more greats!

Last week, I was unable to write this post due to a mild food poisoning. On the plus side, I broke my personal record of throwing up in a span of 24h, heightening it from 6 to 8 times. That’s why there was no post last week, but this week we’re back – with a vengeance! Today I have a lot of liveries which were sent in through email: we’ve got Ecnelis’ Bentley, Yurahe’s Porsche and a few designs by ZaidenGER and Napo24. Thank you guys for sending them in,...

ACC livery showcase #03: ten more liveries for you!

Welcome to already the third installment of the ACC livery showcase! Today, I have a lot of nice looking liveries again for you in store. I got one in the mail from Filippo Caneo, with whom I had (coincidentally) an excellent fight on Monza just the day before. Other liveries today include those of my friends Andreas and Peebz. So lets get to it, shall we? WEC Porsche by Filippo Caneo It might not be the most original idea for a livery (Filippo said as much in his email to...

ACC livery showcase #02: Porsche extravaganza!

Last week I posted the first post in a new format I’d named the ‘ACC livery showcase’. It was pretty well received – at least good enough to warrant a follow up. I even received two emails of people volunteering their custom liveries by sending me an email on contact@felixdicit.com. Other’s are sourced through MrGit’s discord channel by asking people whether I could use theirs. When putting all of the cars together for this week, the Porsche’s popularity was evident. It helps that it has some of the best skintemplates...

ACC Livery Resource: CarModelType & SkinTemplate overviews

This is an old post. If you are looking for a tutorial on how to make full custom liveries, click here for my written tutorial. If you are simply looking for the templates, click here. Now that the custom, user-made liveries have been made client-side by Kunos, there’s been a large increase in interest in creating liveries. I would know, because the interest in my original tutorial post multiplied threefold. Because the method described in that post changed, certain parts of it have been made redundant. Meanwhile, the new 2019...
